General information

Required for the setting up of practice is the entry into the list of veterinary practitioners and the receipt of the Veterinary Practitioner's Identification Card issued in parallel to the entry.

  • In parallel to the entry into the list of veterinary practitioners the Veterinary Practitioner's Identification Card will be issued.
  • Entry into the list of veterinary practitioners in conjunction with the receipt of Veterinary Practitioner's Identification Card entitles to taking up veterinary practice in Austria.
  

Respite

There are no specific deadlines to be met.

Competence for the procedure lies with the Austrian Veterinary Chamber ( ÖTK).

Procedure

A separate application for issuing a Veterinary Practitioner's Identification Card is not required, as it will be issued in parallel to the entry into the list of veterinary practitioners. Exempt from this is the application for issuing of a duplicate.

The following documents have to be attached to the application:

  • Proof of fulfilling the general requirements (see description of the subject matter)
  • Identity card
  • 2 photos
  

Expenses

For the issuing of a Veterinary Practitioner's Identification Card, costs according to the Tarifordnung der Österreichischen Tierärztekammer (Austrian Veterinary Chamber) will accrue.
